Phoenix down Flames

Quarterback Byron Kavanagh threw a pair of touchdown passes and rushed for a third major to lead the Citadel Phoenix to a 27-17 win over the Sir John A. Macdonald Flames in NSSAF football play on Sunday.

Kavanagh completed seven of 11 tosses for 105 yards and also rushed six times for 55 yards. Receivers Drew MacIsaac (80 yards) and Ian Farrell (eight yards) had touchdown catches for the Phoenix while Scott Baigent had 135 yards rushing on 17 carries and Tyler Martin 95 yards on nine rushes.

On the defensive side of the ball, Nate Adams, with two, Greg Herritt and Caleb Jolly had interceptions, while Shaun Robinson chipped in with eight solo tackles and three sacks.
